Let me explain my situation...
1. The Pandemic
When the pandemic hit last year, I was in the middle of my 3rd year of university. I had an internship lined up for the following semester that had to be cancelled. The isolation didn't help.
2. Motivation
I already have a short attention span. Being stuck in my room with my phone and TV didn't help the fact that I needed to be studying for midterms. The isolation also showed me how dependent I was on my peers to stay motivated for classes.
3. Distractions
I own a laptop, smartphone, smart watch, and TV. All it would take is a notification from a friend, and the next thing I know: I'd have spent two hours doom-scrolling on TikTok. It has become frustratingly difficult to stay focused on even simple tasks now.
